Levofloxacin shows no difference in QTc prolongation between Japanese and Caucasian subjects

An investigation was carried out by researchers in the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Toho University, Tokyo, to compare the effects of levofloxacin on the QT/QTc interval measured in both healthy Japanese and Caucasian subjects.
The results of two studies were compared in a post hoc analysis to examine the similarity of the dose-effect responses.
The results obtained showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the QTc-prolonging effect exhibited by Japanese an Caucasian subjects following levofloxacin administration.
