Review of treatments for MDR and XDR tuberculosis recommends high-dose levofloxacin A review of the treatment of multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug resistant (XDR) tuberculosis cites a number of treatment options based on efficacy, safety and cost. Following isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol are the fluoroquinolones with high-dose levofloxacin as the first choice in this group. Less recommended drugs include injectables, like capreomycin, second-line drugs, like thioamides, and a fifth group including carbapenems. PMID: 20797644Lancet Infect Dis. 2010 Sep;10(9):621-629.
