Drug resistance of bacteremia isolates in a rural hospital in Mozambique

A study carried out by healthworkers in Maputo, Mozambique has examined antimicrobial drug resistance trends in bacteremia isolates in a rural hospital in the south of the country.
Increasing resistance was found to chloramphenicoland ampicillin.
The authors recommend quinolones and third-generation cephalosporins for the short-term management of community-acquired infections.
